Common Questions We Receive About Invisalign at Garden Grove Dental Arts

How often will I have to go to the dentist?

Your dentist will schedule regular check-ups to ensure that your treatment is progressing toward its goal.

Is it painful?

Invisalign virtually eliminates the pain of metal braces. However, some patients do complain about a small amount of temporary discomfort in the first few days of each phase of treatment. Most patients simply feel a small amount of pressure for a couple days. This is the treatment working! Not something to worry about.

Can I only wear the aligners when I Sleep?

No. Aligners must be in place for at least 20 hours for treatment to be effective.

Do I need to wear the aligners all day and night?

Yes. You do need to wear your aligners day and night, but after a very short adjustment period — it’s easy.

How long will the treatment take?

The length of your treatment really depends on the severity of the condition you’re attempting to correct. However, most average cases require about 12 months of treatment. For younger patients, this can vary. Contact your dentist for a more specific answer.

Will it affect my speech?

It could, but keep in mind that this would only be temporary — as little as a day or two. When your tongue gets uses to the slight “change in space” it will adjust and your voice will return to normal.

Can I Drink Alcohol with Aligners In?

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Within reason. Alcohol contains a high sugar content. Due to this, you have to be careful about the amount of sugar you trap between your teeth and your aligners. This should be the case with all sugary beverages. Simply be aware of what you’re drinking, and rinse your mouth (and aligners) when you can.

What does Invisalign Cost at Garden Grove Dental Arts?

The cost of any dental procedure is an important factor. In many typical cases, correcting moderate conditions,  Invisalign is comparable to standard metal braces. However, the accurate cost of your personal treatment is something your dentist will be able to explain, complete with all of the options available to you.

Many patients choose Invisalign because of the convenience of never having to deal with metal braces, without paying more for the same level of cosmetic adjustment.
